Superb Victorian Sterling Silver Gilt Pendant or Fob Hung Vesta Case by W Neale & Son dated 1898 This Antique Match or Vesta Case measures approximately 2 3/8 inches or 62 mm in length from the hanging ring on the top of its lid to the strike in the base of the body, it is 2 inches or 50 mm in length from the top of its lid to its base of its body by 1 1/2 inches or 38 mm across from the hinge to the finger catch and it is 1/2 an inch or 13 mm deep from one side of the hinge to the other. The Vesta case is made from sterling silver in a rectangular with a rounded sides and corners and it has been internally gilded or gold plated, the Vesta case has an internally sprung three section piano hinge on the back of its lid with a shaped thumb or finger catch on the front edge and it has a match strike within the lower edge of its body along with a silver ring on the top of its lid so that it could be hung as a pendant or fob from a pocket watch Albert chain. The entire outer body of the case has been superbly engrave decorated with scrolled stylized foliage and the front of the case has a shaped cartouche that has Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below, the inner lip of the upper body has been impressed with a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows, read more
