You are bidding on... Antique 1908 Stonebridge WWI Military Folding Lantern Approx. 10"h x 4" x 4.25" An early 20th century invention. This folding lantern is made of tin with brass fittings and mica windows. It was created by the C.H. Stonebridge Mfg CO, and was issued to WWI soldiers as standard trench gear. These full sized lanterns folded without disassembly into a flat, easily stored and carried unit, but when deployed provided a full sized source of light for the soldiers. Eisenglass panels are actually the mineral "mica" and are formed into sheets. These lanterns were used in the trenches. Marked The Stonebridge Folding Lantern Pat'd Nov 20, 1906 June 9, 1908 C.H.
