Offered for your consideration is a beautiful small antique stoneware crock bought in a western Pennsylvania Antiques shop in the 1980's. I had never seen this color before and have not since then. It is a deep pumpkin rusty yellow with a smooth silky feel to the glaze. If it was a paint sample I would say "eggshell" it has a sheen but definately not shiny or matte finish. T are numerous spots/flecks of darker brown overall that are slightly pitted and or raised. The top and bottom rims have skips in the glaze showing the color of the clay?? which is between the usual yellowware or redware color almost a salmon or dusty old brick shade?? Impressed in the clay on the side is Jana or Jania in script underlined with a "5" under that. Measurements are 8-3/4" tall, 8" at top rim (slightly out of round) and 6-1/2" at the bottom. This crock would be a nice addition to any early stoneware collection or just displayed with it's georgous autumn coloration. If you know w this was made or anything about it please let me know and I will add the information to this listing. Best part- almost forgot- mint condition- NO damage, chips, fleabites, cracks or hairlines. Heavy- it weighs 5 pounds unpacked. I would highly recommend insurance on this piece even though it will be very carefully padded, wrapped and boxed adding approx.3 more pounds. Please read more
