This lovely Antique String or Yarn Holder is turned into the shape of a footed ball and the wood is a warm, mellow color like Maple. It is decorated with a geometric flower design, incised and then nicely hand painted in red and green. This would be from the Arts & Crafts period around the 1880s to 1900 and is very tactile. The colors are nice and rich, with no fading, and the insised detail is very good. It stands 4 1/2"tall, 2 1/2" at the base and 4" at the widest part, and is in excellent condition with no damage of any kind. A lovely object !
