Originally many of our hat pin tops were purchased from an auction that sold items from a closed ware house that had specialized in jewelry, gems, stones & craft fittings Boxes of damaged jewelry, .boxes of rhinestones, sterling scrap & metal rods. Many of these vintage items have been fitted together to re-create Antique Victorian Style Hat Pins . We continue to search for vintage fittings. But also use vintage glass beads and genuine semi precious stones. Materials range from glass, metal, bakelite, sterling, celluloid early plastic and sometimes a mixture.. Many of the hat pins are one of a kind. . These Pins can be displayed in hat pin holders, old hats, and vintage clothing and also used for plant picks in flower table arrangements. Inexpensive and decorative, plus can be used for their original purpose- to keep a hat in place. To do this do not use the top end to push into place but hold the rod and weave through the hat in the back or on top of the hat. We do not provide the end caps for the hat pins, Pierced ear ring caps do work fine./ CAUTION when opening ends of pins are sharp.
