A quality antique Victorian rolled gold mechanical propelling Pencil with a sun dial end to the finial . The pencil propels by pulling the shaft up and down the body of the pencil. I had originally thought the finial end had a compass inset, although it is in fact a sun dial - excellent! The length of this pencil is decorated with a fine engine turned design - very nice indeed. There is a little denting around the pencil end, however this does not affect the appearance greatly, and I'm mentioning this to be totally accurate. This is an excellent quality propelling pencil.
