RARE ANTIQUE 1880'S E. & H. T. ANTHONY NY CLIMAX THREE GLASS PANEL DARKROOM LANTERN WITH KEROSENE SIMPLEX BURNER BY MILLER & Co. MERIDEN, CONN. Up for bid is a rare 1880's E. & H.T. ANTHONY CO. of New York Climax kerosene darkroom lantern. The lantern is in good condition with loss to the paint . The lantern is 12 1/4 inches tall and 4 3/4 inches across. No wick in the burner. This rare lantern will make an outstanding addition to your antique photography or lamp collection.The E. and H. T. Anthony Company: E. H. Anthony was the leading supplier of photographic equipment in America in the 1800s. The company was founded by photographer Edward Anthony, who studied daguerreotype photography under Samuel Morse , who was one the first American daguerreotypists. Anthony also was associated with Civil War photographer Matthew Brady. In 1841, Edward Anthony founded the E. Anthony Company to deal in daguerreotype supplies. By the1850s the company was involved in all aspects of photographic manufacturing. Edward's brother, Henry Anthony, became a partner in 1852. In 1862 the company changed its name to E. & H.T.
