This is an unusual Taisho era antique Japanese military 7th Class Order of the Golden Kite. Strictly a military medal, it was awarded to Imperial Japanese Army & Navy personnel only. The medal is made of pure silver with a gilt kite. The ribbon is made of silk. The medal is in excellent condition, just some patina from age. The ribbon is in good shape with minor soiling and wear on the back. The rosette is in excellent shape. The case is structurally in great shape with minor wear only. This medal is older, dating from around the Taisho era (1912 to 1926). This type has 9 roundels on the right side of the medal, the later versions only have 8. Note the top feather on the kite's wing is shorter than the Meiji era versions. Overall, it's a very nice, original set. The medal is absolutely guaranteed original.
