This auction is for an authentic antique "Tammany" bank made by the J. E. Stevens Co. during the 1870s. This bank stands 5 1/2 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 4 inches front to back. This bank has a few good things about it. He is the brown pants model, and he still has the original sliding access door on the bottom with what even looks like the original screw. Well marked on both sides, and the Dec. 23 1873 patent date on his back shoulders. He also has 3 warts that I would like to point out so that you might bid wisely. First of all paint. When speaking in terms of total original paint, he still retains 85%, but has lost about 15%. The up side is that t have been no repaints or touch ups done. Everything is original. Item two. If you look closely at the last photo, you will see a small opening in his belly under his left arm. That is the arm that is not moving and tucked against his jacket. The very tip of the jacket is missing. This would be a gap that is about 1/4 of an inch by 1/2 inch. I didn't even notice it when I bought him, but I want you to know so that we can still be friends after you get your item. Finally, it is my understanding that when everything is working correctly on one of these, when you put the coin in his hand, the weight causes his arm to drop and the coin falls off right in to the slot as his head nods in read more
