This is an offering of a group of 14 antique ceramic tiles made by the American Encaustic Tile Co Limited. They form a part of a set of tiles intended for use around a fireplace. I believe the original set would have contained 18. Here is a photo of the back of one of the tiles showing the A. E. Tile Co. Limited stamp. NOT ALL OF THE TILES HAVE THIS STAMP. I'm not sure if the stamp didn't imprint (the letters/dots are raised from the surface, not impressed into it) clearly at the factory (some of the "dots," which are raised higher from the surface than the letters, do show up) or if they somehow wore off (the markings that have survived are very faint). In any event, all of these tile came from the same fireplace surround, so I am assuming that they are all authentic. These tiles are in what I would consider to be decent condition (Some are flawless, some have some minor blemishes, one or two have significant blemishes; PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL EVALUATOR, SO THESE ARE MY OPINIONS ONLY. KEEP THAT IN MIND. ). The starting bid for this group of tiles is $280.00, which figures out to be $20.00 per tile. I am offering the tiles as a group, but there is a possibility that I would be willing to sell them individually if this listing doesn't sell.
