RARE!!! AMAZING! Antique TJ & J MAYER Staffordshire Rhone Scenery Flow Blue Ironstone Transferware LARGE Vegetable / Tureen Dish / Bowl / Footed Compote. Other than age discoloration this piece is in amazingly superb condition! NO chips, cracks, hairlines, NO NOTHING!!! It is circa 1850; it is signed T J & J MAYER, Rhone Scenery on the bottom. The handles are GORGEOUS! (see photos); and the form is lovely! It is from a Connecticut estate. I'm not sure if it was a soup tureen (and had a lid) or if it is a vegetable dish / compote, but it is EXTREMELY RARE to find a serving piece of this kind! It is 8 7/8" diameter; 3 1/2" high. It is very heavy ironstone and is solid, glaze is super! I have more pieces of this wonderful old china from the same estate, so check my other listings.
