ANTIQUE TOP QUALITY HORSE HOOF & BRASS DOORSTOP Rowland Ward Up for auction is an interesting antique horse hoof doorstop that is not signed but could be made by Rowland Ward. This doorstop has been holding open my dining room door for many years now. I have bought a different doorstop now so this one is surplus to requirements. I have two other horse hoof objects with Rowland Ward stamped on the bottom so maybe this is made by him as well - as it looks so similar with the inlaid brass nails around the hoof. It has a plaque on the front that is engraved (with the horse’s name) REDSKIN 1900 – 1920. The brass work is fantastic quality and the mount is beautifully engraved to look like hair and it retains most of its original bronzed finish. It is in very good condition with just the odd dent to the brass at the back where it has banged a door over the last ninety years. I do not like polished up brass so I have never touched it - it is just as it arrived with me many years ago but I am positive it would polish up a treat. It has screws around the mount and one is odd and one is missing. The doorstop measures approximately 37 cm (14 9/16 inches) in height and the horseshoe measures approximately 10.5 cm (4 1/8 inches) wide by 13.3 cm (5 1/4 inches) long.
