This is a gorgeous antique flask that is 5 1/2" tall. This is a 20 rib pattern molded flask. Beautiful transparent purple as shown in the photos. The pontil is rough and indented. The bottle is about 4" wide and about 2" thick. My Grandfather was a well known glass collector and was also the first Dean of Fine Arts at the Ohio University in Athens w he served for over 20 years. I originally thought that this was one of the pieces from his collection. He only collected fine specimens of glass. Later, my mother told me that this is not from his collection and she does not remember exactly w it came from. This has the characteristics of a piece of Mantua Glass. From the looks of it I am gonna say that this is from the early to mid 1800's. I am not an expert as my grandfather was. If you are an expert collector of fine glass then I will leave it up to you to decide the value. The lip is plain, base is oval, neck is short. I do believe this to be a fine sample of Midwestern Glass and it would make a nice addition to your antique glass collection. I FEEL THAT ALL OF MY ITEMS ARE WORTH WAY MORE THAN MY STARTING BIDS. IF YOU SEE ANYTHING THAT YOU THINK IS PRICED TOO HIGH, PLEASE EMAIL ME AND I WILL CONSIDER LOWERING THE PRICE IF I RELIST THE ITEM.
