An excellent project for the beginner trunk refinisher, this trunk is awesome. The hardwork has been done (many hours of removing canvas). Originally canvas covered, this late 1890's true flat top travel trunk is ready to shine. The inside also has been stripped and cleaned of the old paper lining. The exposed wood both inside and outside is in great shape. What it needs is a few gentle sandings, a a few coats of either tung oil or a natural stain. Sometimes I paint the black metal work and banding, other times I clean with mineral spirits and leave it as is. Please email with any questions, happy to answer. This trunk has eye-catching front hinges and trunk closers. handles would need to be replaced as they are long gone. End caps are still there and would need to be removed to add the replacement handles- I can remove if winning bidder wishes. what is great is that this trunk is a true flat top, making it a perfect coffee table, or side end table, and very useful both as storage and as a decorative piece of furniture. Measurements: 32 x 19 x 21 - and weighs approx. 20 pounds maybe a bit more..... Shipping will be flat rate to USA - 48 States - $40.00.
