AGE AND BEAUTY WITH THIS VICTORIAN TUNBRIDGE DECORATED BOX WITH KEY - c. 1880 or earlier The Tunbridge detail on this box is quite special and I hope that the images do some justice to the craftsmanship of this piece. As can be seen both the lid and front panel of the box has beautifully detailed Tunbridge work. Both lid and front panel of box (where lock is) have a diamond tunbridge centrepiece. (The lid diamond has damage and can be seen in the photo - I am not sure if this can be expertly repaired?). The front lock centrepiece is perfect. The lid edgeTunbridge work shows some signs of minor and what looks like 'old' damage (top right corner, and a few bits on the lid outer pattern). Think I am making it sound much worse than it looks - but want to make sure I have logged all details. The front section where the lock section looks to be in good order. It measures 22cms wide x 14.5cms deep x 10cms tall approx . The interior has at one time been lined with posters from a Public Meeting in Godstone - 'Working Men's Liberation' with a date of Monday June 12th - but sadly no year? and a few other details about who is presiding and also addressing. Quite interesting and maybe can be researched as to age. This poster lining is mostly torn on the lid interior and quite nicely 'shabby chic' in the interior base. Lock and hinges are read more
