ANTIQUE VICTOR VALERY SIGNED AQUATINT ETCHING, ROUEN STREET SCENE AND CATHEDRAL.Cobblestonestreet in Rouen France covered with snow and the Butter Tower of the RouenCathedral ( La cathédrale primatialeNotre-Dame de l'Assomption de Rouen ) in thebackground.Thisprint was among memorabilia of my husband's parents and appears to have beenpurchased in 1989. It is signed by Victor Valery (1870-1930) (also known asVictor Valery Lochelongue) but there is no number of the edition. The printitself is 7 ¼ by 5 ¼ inches on a plate impression of 7 " by 5 " inches. Thepaper is 9 ¼ by 12 inches. The paper has yellowed with age but is otherwise ingood condition except for slight bending of upper corners and tiny pin hole at the topcenter. (see photo) It is unframed. Nice detail and coloring.Onthe back of the print a pencil notation says: "Street in old city of RouenFrance. Joan of arc was buried here."
