This is a beautiful antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish sword design small kilt pin or large brooch.I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found. The lovely stones green bloodstone from the Isle of Rum and orange jasper from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire. The sword handle contains a lovely ball of bloodstone also from the Isle of Rum. The brooch has no hallmarks ( does have faded sterling stamps ) which is fairly normal for pieces of this age and has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The length is 5.2 cm ( Just over two inches ) and the pin and C clasp are original and in good working condition.
