Antique Piano Stool with Adjustable Seat & 3 Legs Tonk, ChicagoThis is a rare 3-legged antique piano stool with the adjustable seat made by the Tonk Co., Chicago. It is in excellent, sturdy condition.This is a piano stool, not an organ stool. (The piano stools are higher than the organ stools.)The iron screw on the underside of the seat is marked "Tonk Chicago". Beginning in the 1880's Tonk Manufacturing made swivel stools for the growing music industry. Tonk became the largest manufacturer of piano stools in the United States, making the majority of swivel piano stools on the market.The stool's height adjusts from 19" (lowest setting) to 23" or higher. The screw on the bottom of the seat is 7" long with 6" of thread.The diameter of the seat is 13 1/2".The stool is beautiful. It could also be used as a small table.
