An antique, Victorian, clear glass apothecary bottle with the unusual label "P. Torment." (Pulvis Tormentillae). Tormentil had a large number of uses to combat fever, sore throats etc, and was sometimes said to be named as it relieved the torment of stomach ache! It has a paper label which has been varnished over and is in good condition with just some minor losses to the corners The stopper is free and fits well. The interior is clean, with a few specks of old varnish residue and a few bubbles in the glass from the manufacturing process. There is the remains of a round pharmacists label on the bottom which reads "E.W. Lawrence, Pharmacist" This would make a very nice and unusual bottle to add to a collection, and it is a good size, being 8 inches (20.5 cm) in height, including the stopper. It would make a fantastic addition to a display of apothecary or scientific items. The bottle will need packing well, so please note the postage cost.
