Bloodstone issaid to help with physical endurance and strength. It was often considered aman's gemstone as a result of this belief. It is said to be helpful in business affairs as well. In ancient time, Bloodstone was thought to be able to stop hemorrhages with the merest touch. In the middle Ages, Bloodstone was attributed special powers as the spots were thought to be the blood of Jesus Christ. Because of this, this stone has been used in Christian art. This stone was also used to heal tumors and cure blood poisons. Powdered Bloodstone has been used as an aphrodisiac. This powdered gem has also been used as a medicine in India. This is an Amazing 14K Estate Antique Bloodstone ring. It is so characteristically Victorian! It is set with a beautiful large17.5mm x 13mm oval shape stone. This is a natural Bloodstone also known as a Heliotrope and has beautiful blood red drops in the dark green background. The stone has no cracks or chips. On either side of the stone is a beautiful high relief, scrolled Repousse design. The design shows little wear. In remarkable condition. This is all original from approx. 1880-1890. Rings were rarely marked but this was professionally tested and is 14K solid gold. It measures a ring size 10.25 and was probably worn by a man but will also be stunning on a female hand.
