This auction is for a matching pair of old victorian style candle holders by W.M. Rogers in either silver or silver plate I really do not know how to tell the difference. They are quite heavy for their size weighing in at nearly four lbs. pre-packaging. They are beautifully detailed with scroll work and a floral design from top to bottom. They measure 8 3/4" high and the base is 4" square. The top part measures a bit over 2" across with a slight lip and it also has an interior hole that measures 7/8" across and 3/4" deep. The can be used for taper candles or any candle with less than a 2" bottom. I believe someone may have polished them recently as the finish is quite shiny and one still has a bit of what looks like MAAS on it in the floral design towards the top. I wish I could say they are perfect but alas one has been repaired. The repair is very good and hard to see unless you turn the item over. It looks as though one of the feet on the bottom may have been broken off but was re-attached by solder work. I have tried to show close ups of these areas both top and bottom in the pics. The bottom of both pieces is signed with an impressed W.M. Rogers. It is a lovely pair perfect for any victorian or vintage type of decor but they are not perfect and the starting price reflects that. Shipping will be based on 6 lbs. carefully packaged
