Antique photo album - padded leather with tooled design accented with gold, heavy brass clasp. Cover had glass (?) insert with color portrait of woman (painted or transferred I don't know). T is some shredding of the burgandy fabric or leather matting the plate, but overall I would consider pretty minor. The rest of the leather shows some scuffing around edges but in very good condition. This has been in my family for years, so many my mother (at 85) was unable to recognize the people although a couple pieces of the furniture is still in the family. Album contains 17 pages with photos on both sides of the thick pages amounting to 59 total photographs from babies to older people. Outside dimensions are 10-1/2" x 8-3/4" and it weighs about 5-1/2 lbs. My best guess of the age would be the mid to late 1800s. T has been no attempt to cure or otherwise polish the leather (it's not as shiny as shown in photo). I am no expert at determining the condition of such a piece, but I would say considering its age it is in overall excellent condition. Beginning the painful chore of downsizing and the letting go of some very special things!! Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
