Beautiful and very high quality fitted cutlery canteen made by Joseph Rodgers and Sons, cutlers to Queen Victoria. ,Made from mahogany, it is a wonderful colour. It is Victorian in date and measures 16" by 10.5" by 3.5" It holds 12 dinner / table forks, 12 dinner / table knives, 12 dessert forks, 12 table knives, pair of meat carvers, a pair of game carvers and a steel sharpener (none of this is included). It has a top tray which lifts out. The box is a stunning shape, the sides curve inwards and the top is in a three stepped style. The is a brass lozenge on the top and the keyhole in a heraldic shield shape. The inside is blue. It has a label inside which reads Joseph Rodgers & Sons Limited, No6 Norfolk Street Sheffield, Cutlers to her majesty and the royal family manufacturers of silver goods & improved sheffield plated wares of every description. It has an embossed royal coat of arms with a lion and unicorn and WAITING PATENTEE underneath. There are no cracks in the wood and the hinges work perfectly. The key is missing so it cannot be locked. Part of the material underneath has come away and the label has a few stains. Overall its in beautiful condition though.
