This is a beautiful antique Edwardian circa 1910 sterling silver Scottish agate sword small kilt pin or large brooch. I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found. The beautiful stones are classic grey banded agates from near Montrose on the east coast of Scotland and a green section of bloodstone from the Isle of Rum on the west coast of scotland. The brooch has no hallmarks ( has ster silver stamp and makers W.J.&S ) which is fairly normal for pieces of this period, but has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The length is 6.0 cm ( Two and two fifth inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
