Antique ORIG The STANDARD DESIGNER NY 1897 COLOR LITHOS Search We are thrilled to offer an incredible collection of antique design and fashions magazines from a San Francisco estate. These magazines are exceptional not only for their age and condition, but also for the contents; they are truly a window to Victorian America. This auction is for an original and complete issue from June - 1897 of “ The Standard Designer of Fashions, Fancy Work & millinery” published by the Standard Fashion Company , 32 West 14 th St New York. The magazine has 112 pages, soft front and back covers and 4 “elegant colored lithographs of the latest Standard designs including a superb millinery plate” with its description. Inside you’ll find the images and detailed description (half to one page for each style) of tens of outfits for women, men and children. In this issue t are lots of children styles, bride's and brides' maids wedding dress Also articles about gardening, furniture, floriculture , books, knitting and an array of womanly topics. Do not miss articles as diverse as "The saddle" in the Bicycling section or "The last summer fads" on parasols (How can I live without one?!) Lastly, this issue dedicates the last 8-9 pages to advertisement: from beauty lotions to meat cutters to the permanent solution to " superfluous hair on the face ". In great condition, measuring 8” x 11”, this gorgeous magazine is solidly bound, the only flaw on the front cover is a sum (please pictures), no stains, pages are sharp and crisp, lightly age browned as to be expected; no corner folding and no significant tears. A complete magazine in excellent condition. Note that this issue is accompanied by the original card to subscribe to it for 85c a year!
