You are bidding on an Antique Victorian Revival Inlaid Mahogany Sofa Parlor Club Boudior Chair. This piece is a RARE FIND due to its size, age, beauty and design. It dates back to the 19th Century Circa 1860 American made of New York Provenance. This piece was VERY WELL made either by or attributed to Herter Brothers Furniture who has made some of the most elaborate and beautiful furnishings in the industry of the 1800s and is of THE HIGHEST quality. This is one of THE NICEST Victorian Club Chairs I have ever brought to market with beautiful carvings and inlays all throughout the piece. This piece sits on beautifully curved and carved legs with nicely splayed feet. The backrest has a nicely bowed top rail with carved bell flowers and Ebony on Satinwood inlaid floral motifs at the top of each side as well as the top of each arm rest which are all beautifully scrolled. The front of the piece has beautiful shell crested and carved floral designs with burl over mahogany inlays and ebony over Satinwood inlays with a floral garland design going down the front from each side with a nice inverted anc carved finial. Each side has spindle carved supports. The upholstery is a nice button tufted velvet like fabric in a semi Satin finish but please keep in mind this came from a private estate and the upholstery has wear consitent with its age and may need to be professionally cleaned and tailored. This piece was kept in the family for 3 generations and has had work done and old support brackets put on that appear to have been done in the late 19th Century or turn of the Century and has old repairs that are also consistent with its age, some of the Ebony inlays loss but they kept everything all original. Its made of a beautiful and exotic figured wood grain over mahogany with various other exotic woods with Satinwood, Ebony and Burl inlays as you can see in the pictures below. They just do not make things like this anymore and is truly a rare find. Because of its size it can be used in a parlor room or boudior, or in a hallway or foyer ,living room, study and anyw else throughout your home as a BEAUTIFUL accent piece that I PROMISE will be a topic of conversation. This was VERY WELL made with quality that surpasses anything made today but Please understand that this is an antique and its all original so it has some minor imperfections on it with its age but overall its in excellent shape.
