An amazing Victorian Shell Art Box. Measures Approx 5"/13cm high ( Height includes all the shells ) x 8"/ 20cm wide I have put a lot of photos on this listing so that you can study them and see the condition and style of this box, please study them as I am not an expert on this sort of thing. There are a few shells missing( See above key hole, one yellow shell on the back and a couple of tiny ones on the front on edge of the right hand oval ) and one ( Pink one on the side ) is cracked however this is not very noticeable in the general look of the box and it is in otherwise good condition considering how old it is. The front has two areas which are velvet which is worn with age..see photos. The lid is held on with a tape but although fragile seems quite effective and still holds the lid in place. There is no key for this box, I have never had one for it I bought this in an antique market in Newbury, England about 30 years ago when I was an avid collector of anything that caught my eye! Its one of my favourite unusual buys but my husband is not overly fond of it and its time to find it a more appreciative home! I am having a ruthless clear out.
