This bold and colorful 1860-1880 needlepoint tapestry on wooden frame measures 28” x 22” and depicts Pharaoh’s daughter with the young Moses near the Nile. The colors are terrific with minimal fading and you can see many elements of Egyptian Revival styling from the sphinx head on the foot of the baby’s cradle to the monumental Amenhotep-like colossi in the background. You will note scattered moth losses, but these do not distract from the impact of the work overall.
