Very nice complete antique mah jong set from the 1920's. This beautiful set has 152 tiles (8 well matched jokers have been added), and comes in in a rose wood chest from that era. The bone and bamboo pieces are all hand carved, and are in very nice condition. They are 1/4 bone 3/4 bamboo, and the joints are nice and tight and clean. There are 152 tiles, the set is complete for American rules, the tiles are listed below. They measure 1 3/8" long, 13/16" wide, and just over 7/16" thick, all the bamboo backs are well matched, so they all blend well. I have photographed a random selection of tiles so you can see how well matched the tiles are. The one dots are beautiful, as are the peacock one Bams. The flower and season tiles are very special as well. Please note: My photos make the tiles look darker than they really are...they are a light creamy bone color, not the dark color they appear in the photos (maybe it's the flash?). The set includes:36- 4 each 1-9 Craks (characters) 36- 4 each 1-9 Bams 36- 4 each 1-9 Dots 16- 4 each Winds (N,S,E,W) 12- 4 each Dragons (Red, Green, White) 2 complete runs of 4 Flowers and Seasons 8 JokersThe set also has 2 bags of bone counting sticks...I have no idea how these are used, but they are included, as well as a small wood coffin with 2 tiny bone dice and 4 carved discs with Chinese figures on them. read more
