Very old Bay State parlor guitar from the 19th century! Built by the John C. Haynes Company in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the best known guitar makers of the nineteenth century. This guitar is bunder 37 inches long, and only 12 inches wide at the lower bout. A very small guitar from one hundred plus years ago, but it sounds and plays great! It has a rosewood fretboard, a spruce top, and a mahogany neck. The back and sides are mahogany, too, but they were stained to appear rosewood at the time it was made. Everything seems to be original, even the tuners, but the tuners still work perfect! This guitar was definintly maintained well. T is a few repaired cracks on the side and a small chip out you can see in one of the pics. This is about 1/2 inch by 1/8 inch. It is very stable though, and even though that could be replaced it doesn't need to be. The neck is that vintage V shape. The string height at the 12 fret is 7/64 on the bass side and maybe a touch lower on the treble. This guitar sounds very good an looks very cool! This auction includes a vintage hardshell case in good condition. Into its third century this guitar is rare and in amazing shape. We reserve the right to end this auction early.
