Up for auction, one very special old "Key of Heaven" Holy Medal, in the shape of a skeleton Key. Measures 1" x 2" Front of key features a very detailed 4 way medal at the top, Immaculate Conception, St Christopher & Sacred Heart of Jesus surrounding Jesus on the Crucifix. Key reads "WHAT DOES IT PROFIT A MAN TO GAIN THE WORLD IF HE LOSE HIS OWN SOUL". Back of key states "I AM A CATHOLIC IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT PLEASE CALL A PRIEST" . There is also a marking on it "PAT PEND", this is an earlier version of the key to Heaven, as other ones I've seen had the patent number on it, this is pre-patent. Not sure who would put a patent on such an item. Detail is very crisp considering age & wear of the plating. Some handsome patina all over this medal, consistent with the age of the piece. Looks like silver plated brass, with most of the plating having worn off over time, exposing golden dark brass throughout the medal. This is a unique & charming religious medal.
