This is a Boraxo soap dispenser of the type which was used in gasoline service stations and other industrial settings where a heavy duty soap was required. It is stamped on the top lid with the 1935 U.S. patent number (see closeup photo). This piece is in amazing condition for its age and purpose. The porcelain is smooth, bright, without crazing, and has only very minor losses, mostly the area on the edge of the wall mounting bracket as shown in the photos. The valved soap dispensing mechanism including the retaining chain for the lid is entirely intact and working perfectly. The interior is equally clean. The chrome plated lid is remarkable for being in its original bright condition without brassing. This is about as fine an example of a genuine vintage original and unrestored Boraxo dispenser as one could hope to find. Ready to mount on the wall for display or use (Boraxo soap is still available).
