As you can see, this porthole is painted. When I took the photo, I purposely included the edge of an identical porthole that has been cleaned. I got these from a guy who said he salvaged them from a 1930's vintage sailboat. No information as to what kind of boat. The overall diameter is about 9". The diameter of the glass is about 6". The glass is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips. Once it is cleaned, I'm sure you will see some very minor scratches, but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a 75 year old porthole. The wingnut on this one is stainless steel. The sealing gasket is dry rotted and will need to be replaced, to make it look nice. On the back is a marking that looks like a "W" with a "C" on top of it, and also another marking which is either a 9 or a 6. With a little bit of elbow grease, this will be beautiful.
