What we have here is obviously exceptional. This toy ladder truck, pulled by three horses, dates back to the 1890s. It weighs around 20 pounds and it is all iron. The paint is weathering in places but look at the pictures. So much of the original beauty still exists. The horses are meant to go up and down as the fire engine is moved across the floor. some of that action still exists although one wheel (I think) is missing from the front car. Maybe not. The ladder car is 18 inches long, 7 inches tall and around 4 inches wide. Their are three ladders all in perfect condition and they fit togehter for really tall fires. There are two iron drivers, one for the horse car and one at the rear to steer the ladder truck. An exciting toy in 1890 and an exciting toy today. One of a kind? Who knows? I have never seen anything this elaborate in my forty years as a dealer. I have done no restoration to this object. I like the look of having fought a few fires read more
