VERY OLD, ANTIQUE, VINTAGE EMBROIDERY FRAME HOLDER & WORK FASTENER "THE MIGNON" Made in Germany and stamped with a patent. In original box and complete! (base of box is a little crumpled on one side......it's very old)! Nickel plated and in good condition...just needs a polish to restore it to it's former glory. The pin cushion is made from burgundy velvet. There is a very old tag attached to it, probably a shop tag. Unsure of actual age, but looking at the design on the lid is possibly Victorian. The box states: 'This improved holder is provided with a sliding arrangement which enables to screw on same any size of embroidery frame, so that both hands can be used in the act of embroidering. 'The Mignon" is also most useful for fastening any work which has to be hemmed, sewn, cut etc.' A fabulous addition to a vintage sewing collection... or a very useful accessory if you enjoy embroidery!
