We have done our best to interpret what the box says as it is all in German but we ask you patience as we do not speak German and have to rely on an online translator. This box appears to be either a still bank or a ballot box of some sort. We lean more towards the idea of a bank due to one of the embossed phrases that we have provided below. The top has a slit long enough to fit either money or a small paper through. The top is also beautifully decorated with a cast relief scene of a man with a horn on the left overlooking a harbor or the sea to the right where you can see a large ship sailing and the sun is setting in the center. From what we can tell the sides have the following phrases:Gesetzlich Geshutzt translates "Protected by Law"Junges Blut, Spare Dein Gut, Armut Im Alter Wehe Tut translates roughly "Young Blood, Save Your Good, Poverty Aged Hurts"a g eisen bronze...keep scrolling there are 19 pictures and more description beneath the photos below!giesserei translates "a g iron bronze foundry"The name Carl Flink is on the bottom as well and the only Carl Flink we found that made any sense in connection with this was a bronze sculptor from Germany who had a pretty short life span (1899-1936). The bottom of this bank is left open and we believe there must have been some sort of covering or door that we do not have. This bank measures approx. 5 1/2" x 3 1/8" x 2 1/2" and weighs approx. 2 lbs. The top appears to have some sort of paper or sticker on it that is a green color. We aren't sure what it is or was .
