Antique Vintage PORCELAIN PLAQUE after KAUFMANN Tile Description PAINTING ON PORCELAIN PLAQUEAFTER ANGELICA KAUFMANN'S"PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN DRESSED AS VESTAL VIRGIN" This beautifully rendered painting on porcelain was based on Angelica Kaufmann's famous painting "Portrait of a Woman Dressed as Vestal Virgin." It depicts a woman in white robes holding an ancient oil lamp. "311" and "C" (or "G") are impressed on the back of the plaque (5" x 7"). T is also a faint image of an artist's palette with six brushes in light brown. The two strips of clear tape that run the length of the back of the plaque were t when this piece was purchased. The English translation of the handwritten paper label on the back of the plaque: Vestalin.After Angelica Kaufman (sic)Original in the Dresden Gallery.Copied for Wolfy Fritz.ArtistBy Kissinger The frame (7 1/2" x 9 1/2") has an antiqued gold finish. No artist's signature is visible on the front of the plaque. The plaque is pristine: t are no chips or scratches; t are a couple of minute firing imperfections. The spots that you may see in the photos (cheek, thumbnail) look like specks of paint. They are original to the painting. Kaufmann (1741-1807) was a Swiss artist who studied in Italy.
