I received this beautiful frame and needlepoint from an old lady. She had told me the name of the person that was supposed to have done the needlepoint but I guess at the time I wasn't that interested now I wish I would have been. I want to think it had something to do with a FOUNDER of a FAMOUS CANDY COMPANY. The frame measures 13" W x 15" L on the outside, and it is 1 ¾" deep and the needlepoint sticks out a ½". The needlepoint itself measures 8"W x 10" L. I think the wooden frame is made of Cherry or Walnut Wood because it has a dark reddish tint. T are marks on the back of the frame that indicate that it was rough sawn. It also looks to have small square nails. The frame has four gorgeous Victorian looking wooden leaf embellishments. (Not sure what to call them!) One in each corner. (Look at picture) One of the embellishments has a piece of the leaf missing, the one on the left corner on top.(see pic 4) It could easily be repaired. The needlepoint work is very elegant. T are 100 stitches per square inch. I believe the flowers are ROSES. The colors of the needlepoint are MAUVE,PINK,BURGANDY, LIGHT BLUE AND DARK BLUE, DARK GREEN AND LIGHT GREEN, GOLD, AND A REAL PALE BLUE. The paper on the back to protect the needlepoint looks to be the original paper. As you will see in the picture the paper is actually in pretty good shape for read more
