ANTIQUE VINTAGE WROUGHT CAST IRON COAL SAD CLOTHES PRESSING IRON Rare Primitive An amazing find. This is a Pageol wrought cast iron coal clothes iron used in the late 1800's or early 1900's.. It has 5" wood handle. The lid opens up by raising the big round lever on the front and hot coals would have been inserted for the steam to iron the clothes. This iron is 8 " long and 4" wide at the widest. It stands 8.5" tall including the wood handle. The name PAGOEL is engraved on the top. More information is under the lid of the iron but I can not make out what it says do the ageing. If you are a collector of antique, primitive home and kitchen wear, this is a very nice piece. Oh..and it makes a great doorstop!
