Up for your bidding pleasure is a Antique Vintage WW1 Era Unique Mortar and Pestle c.1917 . This item came in the shop a couple of days ago and I thought that it is really cool and needs to find a home where someone will appreciate what they're looking at. Of course I'm assuming you like to have things that no one else has. This is a World War 1 (the war to end all wars) commemorative (perhaps souvenir) item from around 1917. The mortar is in very good condition, but the pestle probably had a loop at the top, but has long since broken off (see attached photos). You can see how the pestle was drawn and twisted during its manufacture. What I find thoroughly intriguing is the cast mortar cannon on one side and the war years on the other. Very different and very unique. I'm guesstimating it sat in some type of cradle at one time, allowing the ground contents to be poured out. Can you imagine what a find that would be? Still historic for what it is though. It weighs 5lb. and measures 4-1/2"T X 5" in diameter. So buy it, grind stuff with it, or display it with your military or medical collection, but just don't miss it. Add this Antique Vintage WW1 Era Unique Mortar and Pestle c.1918 to your military museum or medical collection before someone else adds it to theirs.
