Antique Violin / Marked "Rigart Rubus 1850 / St. Petersburg" Last year I purchased a unique violin that is full size, 4/4, made of fine spruce and beautifully figured maple and has beautiful resonance and tone. It's a blonde instrument and that's what originally caught my eye. I've played guitar and drums for many, many years and have always wanted to add violin to my musical credentials. Unfortunately, surgery on my left wrist restricts motion in that hand to such a degree that it might take years to accomodate the difference that would be necessary in technique to play adequately. A curious design aspect of the violin is that the construction provides rounded edges without overhang of the top and bottom surfaces. This prevented me from using a chin rest and I had to play "au Naturale" with my chin directly resting on the violin's top. Not as big of a deal as it might sound, but worth mentioning to potential buyers. I don't know if any rests were created for this construction style along the way.So, if you would like to own a beautiful blonde full size violin with unique look and feel due to the rounded edge design, here it is. I'm including the original bow, or remnants thereof as read more
