Antique vtg Chinese jade bead double strand necklace This is an exquisite antique Chinese double strand green jade necklace, from the estate of the noted Sinologist John King Fairbank's wife Wilma. I have taken photos against different backgrounds so you can see what a strong green color this is. Some photos are taken with flash. The necklace is simply gorgeous. The shorter strand of beads is 8 inches, the longer one is about 10 inches. The whole necklace not including the little jade tulip is 20 1/2. The carved tulip is 5/8 inch. Each jade bead is 1/2 inch in diameter. The necklace weighs 5 1/2 ounces on a postal scale. Held against the light you can see lovely veins and subtle color variations. There are no nicks, cracks, or chips. The clasp is hand tied in the old fashioned way and I hope will give experts an indication of the age of this piece. The Fairbank daughters hope that some of their parents' treasures will find homes where they can be loved anew. Hope you will love it!
