Submitted for your approval and for local pickup only! No crying, I will not ship this item. I have been collecting and restoring vintage miniature safes for the past ten years. 's the cardinal rule on these gorgeous gold leaf hand painted masterpieces. Even I have a hard time anymore lifting even the smallest ones. I have them cleaned, lubricated and originally restored in every room of the house. I have many small Meilink, Victors, Herring Hall, J Baum, Cary , Alpine, Mosler, and Diebold safes. The key is to have the original gold leaf paint, and filigree in original condition with personal name or company name and logo intact. I have seen these beautiful original painted foundry safes sand blasted and completely over restored bring $2000.00 with a newly painted Wells Fargo glossy logo. My first impression is to throw up! These original pieces of truly one of a kind American folk art have been ruined for some sleaze weasel attorney's game room! The second rule is.... no restorations. Original condition only is the most important! "These small size safes are only investment grade pieces if they are in original condition and are less than 30"tall from casters to top of safe, outside dimensions. Of course having the original carpet and keys to all interior drawers and door compartments are a huge plus! The outside dimensions of this all original Vulcan Safe are actually quite small. Its only 27" in height. The width is 18"wide. The depth is also 18" which makes this one slightly wider than the standard floor safe. This antique floor safe is a magnificent example of all of the above. I would never sell this piece if I was not selling my house and relocating. This awesome Floor Safe originally came from an estate in Bergen County New Jersey , w I believe it was delivered and stayed for approximately 107 years. I haven't opened the interior door panel to confirm the manufacturer but usually only the Vulcan Safes had this version of a hand painted ship and ocean motif on the front door. The Yale marked tumbler is unusual and very desirable. Most of the combination and T-Bars are not marked except with a number on the bar. The Yale combination locks are always much more like a watch movement rather than the standard Blacksmith grade cast iron interior mechanisms. Notice the silver medallion on the inside of the door. This cylinder unscrews and can be removed as part of the Yale lock movement. The only other safe I have with a Yale lock like this one is from the Cary Safe Company from a foundry not in Ohio or PA, but from Buffalo , New York . The safes I have with Yale combination locks are far more high quality and intricate than all my other safes. These combination locks are very high quality and are graduated and marked with caliper and micrometer quality markings and signatures on the tumbler barrels. The highest quality Yale Locks also always have a four number left right left system as this one does. I have two matching Meilink 23" inch high safes in my living room that have a patented four number combination. It's a patented system because you only have to remember the first two numbers to open a four number combination.
