You are invited to bid on this antique H.W & Co Staffordshire luster teapot c1863-72.This lovely earthenware teapot has been transfer decorated and hand coloured with an oriental scene of two Chinese ladies taking tea. They are sitting at a table dressed in brightly painted gowns and are holding fans with a male servant serving their tea. Around them are exotic looking flowers with wooden panels and ornate roof finial. This image is repeated on both sides. Along the handle and spout there is an oriental style pattern with orange luster. I think the hinged lid is made from pewter with small rope finial. Underneath it bears the pattern name and backstamp H.W & Co, which I'm sure is the mark of Hancock, Whittington & Co. It measures approx. 5.5" tall by 7" wide.As you can see from the final photos there are a couple of chips to the tip of the spout and a small crack next to the lid, otherwise this teapot is in good clean condition with no other damage.A lovely antique chinoiserie teapot to add to your collection.Please feel free to ask me any further questions and take a look at my other items for sale.
