Note: This Surgical Kit is sold for historical reference, and is not intended for use.I am pleased to offer this old and original, Wade & Ford Surgeons set. I believe that Wade & Ford marked pieces were in use from 1860-1866. This kit is not complete, there are a few pieces missing. The instruments in the second picture are all signed Wade & Ford, while the pieces in the third photo are either unmarked, or have a different makers mark. I think all pieces are Civil War era, but perhaps for the piece marked KNY-Scheerer. The small scalpels are marked J Reynbers and Luer. The solid Rosewood case measures approximately 11" wide by 5 1/2" deep and 2 7/8" tall. I would consider the set to be in good to very good condition. The steel has some surface rust and wear commensurate with age and use. The knife has edge chipping at the blade center. The checkered grips may be ebony, but I am not certain of this. The Rosewood case is missing it's brass key escutcheon plate, and the owners plate or plaque is missing on the box top. Otherwise, there is average wear, with a tight crack at one top corner. This is a nice surgeons set, with great display potential. Not intended for use. The photos are an integral part of my description. They will give an accurate representation, and best tell the story.
