From Shop At Home Antiques: You are bidding on an EXCELLENT W.H. GUNLOCKE Chair Co. BARREL BACK BANKERS OFFICE CHAIR Features: Marked with paper tag, nailed to underside of chair: W.H. Gunlocke Chair Co. Wayland N.Y. (New York) 604-2C Also has a metal tag w chair worked, Dubin Co. Inc Phila, PA (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) William H. Gunlocke started manufacturing chairs in Wayland New York in 1905 for libraries, schools and homes. This chair was probably made in the 1940s when Gunlocke made chairs in this style for military and industrial establishments. From the Internet: 1940 Gunlocke: "Assembly-line manufacturing techniques are implemented to produce high quality seating in unprecedented quantities." Gunlocke still makes highest quality chairs today. Overall excellent condition, no breaks, cracks, repairs, one wood screw cover missing, can be replaced (sold at hardware stores or online) Strong, sturdy, reliable chair. Comfortable!
