Antique Clock Wow! This auction is for a great, all original antique shelf or mantel clock that is in a beehive or Gothic case. The clock has the original paper label and it indicates it was made by the Waterbury Clock Company. The clock is very old, dating to the 1870s or so. It has the original reverse painted glass panel with an image of an eagle perched on a shield - a common Civil War military image. The dial is original and shows some crazing from age. It has an alarm function and a gong signal for the top of the hour (which is VERY loud). The clock has a veneer case with some minor damage and t, but is a great looking piece nevertheless. The clock measures about 19" tall and is in nice mechanical condition - I had it working for about the last hour. The movement is an eight day, 30 hour spring. The alarm appears to be disconnected for some reason and might be missing a wire. I think it needs a good cleaning or oiling because it runs a little slow, and it stopped on me once or twice. Very nice old clock! Includes key and pendulum. This piece is part of a very large collection of clocks, watches and miscellaneous pieces from the same estate that I am selling this week. The previous owner passed away and was a long time watch and clock repairman in Illinois. T are many great items listed so make sure you check out all of them read more
