This is a really terrific old weathervane that I found at a small country auction and I selling it exactly as I found it. There is an excellent rooster made of pressed metal, perhaps tin or lead, I am not an expert on this. Under my magnifying glass, I can see that originally this entire weathervane was gilded because there are tiny remnants of old shiny gold on it. The rooster then seems to have been painted white, and most of this paint is gone as well. The arrow section also was gilt originally and it also appears to have had a later coat of dark red paint which is still flaking off. The rooster appears to have been hit by some sort of scatter-shot as there are 6 holes on both sides and some of the shot is still inside the rooster. The rod at the end of the rooster is bent up and I suspect it was originally straight out, and it can probably be starightened out. (I am going to leave it as-is for shipping, it will actually make it easier to ship). This excellent old piece is about 20" long as-is, and the bent rod will add another 7" to the overall length. The rooster is 11" tall, 9" across, and about 3/4" inch or so thick. This is just a really terrific piece of Americana with a lot of personality for your collection. , I have a 100% rating on eBay after 9 years. Thanks for looking at my auction. Dave
