Sandusky Tool Co. is stamped on the blade of this really nice antique wood block plane. I am assuming that this was made in the 19th century in the eastern part of the US (possibly Ohio) judging by the name of the tool company stamping. The wood has a well worn patina from years of being in the hands of a real craftsman carpenter. It appears that it may have been oiled at some time which gives it a nice soft and smooth feel. The steel blades (2 fastened together with an internal bolt) have light rust from age but are in nice condition as well as the cutting edge is sharp and clean. It measures 8" in length, 3" in width and 3" in height (the main wood base). The blade is 8" in length and the wood block tounge holds the blade snugly. The base has and age crack in the front top as shown in the closeup photo but does not detract from the beauty or the operation of the tool. Very nice collector item or showpiece in a den or an office.Paypal. Shipped flat rate in U.S. for $7.00.
