Antique wood chipper, may also be known by another name but that is what I was told it was, if you know better please advise! It would be appreciated. I have tried to research this tool with no luck. It is primitive but how primitive I do not know. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! Pap This from a fellow Ebayer on this tool: Thanks to Bert from KY This tool is known as an adze. They are fairly common. They were used in cabin building, dugout canoe making, and many other woodworking job. This one looks like it may be from the 1800's. New adzes are still made, available from specialty tool makers. The adze can be used in conjunction with a broadaxe to square timbers to make beams. This is perhaps the most common use. Just thought you might like to know. Bert from Kentucky. alsoIt was just pointed out to me by a friend that t is possibly a blacksmith mark on it which look like an hourglass with a line running horizontal thru the middle of the hourglass.
